We are looking to repro the 70-72 4spd shift hump and are in need of one to use as a sample. Does anyone have one they can part with? Let me know and we can work something out... :Brow:
Shane- Have you guys thought about the boot ring that attaches to the hump??? Duane on this board has made several by hand and they always go like hot cakes. No one is doing a tooled repro on these. Just a thought.....
There is a fellow board member I spoke with on here, and his name is Chuck West. I had already started a thread specifically on this subject. Here is the link to the thread I started, if you scroll down a few posts you will see the link to his website. He says the hump is 100% correct for the skylark humps, with and without 4 speed. I confirmed with him that they were not chevelle humps. Check it out, and if anyone of you guys buys one come back on and let us know.
I would be skeptical until I saw one for myself. nothing against Chuck West, but I cant tell you how many times that a vendor swore to me a part was correct, only to find out it was wrong. Someones gotta step up and post a picture of what he has.
Jason, most likely I will be the test rabbit for this one. I am going to buy one here soon. If I do get it before anyone else then I will post pics and let you guys see it.
4spd The rings and the hump are important needed parts . Thanks for your efforts in repoducing these much needed parts . Does anyone know if the part that welds to the floor ( hump) is different one for a console ?
I believe Chuck has listed his humps as seperate part #'s and the heading for the two are different, but I think when I spoke to Chuck he was saying they are the same.
I emailed him asking for a picture last fall. He said he didn't have one, but went on to give his character reference and that I should trust him. That's fine, I have no problem with that. It's my choice to trust him or not and I have no reason not to. But I would advise him that if he really wants to do business on the internet, photos are a must. If you buy something sight unseen and it isn't correct, you've wasted and lost time on your project as well as lost the money it costs to return it. I believe if you look at his return policy, there is a restocking fee as well. But Andrew, if you do get one, I'd love to see a picture as would many others. I chose to go the Chevelle route just because so many here say it works fine.
Here is a close up shot of the "hump". Like Mark Reeves said, it is not much of a hump, but a reproduction would still be nice. It's going to be hard to find an original that someone is willing to part with, but maybe one of Duane's shifter boot rings could at least get the cut-out dimensions correct.
Tyhe 24K question , trhis looks like it a non console part . Is there a difference for the console eqippped car . The holes look like a large boot with a large ring . I imagine that this might still be the same as a console car but I do not have any of the lower parts like the lower shifter and upper boots . Just a consolette and shifter . It seems that the consolette bolts to the flor and its flat on the bottom not angled like what that appears to be . If I do a change over I would like it to be just like factory . Just wanna know .
Buick 4 speed hump.. Andrew am I missing this link some where? Is he repoping these or not? Thankyou Randy
