There's a lot of questions regarding these repros.
I'm the person which had the 1970 grille reproduced and shipped it to the GS national.
I just discovered this web site, so I couldn't respond to the messages earlier.
If you have questions about the part drop me an e_mail (olivier.drisse@alcatel.fr), i'll be happy to give you an answer.
There's the possibility to make any kind of grille (or plastic part) as long as I have the part to reproduce. I needed a '70 grille for my car so that's how this all thing started.

    Please update us

Hi,I really am thankfull that you have taken on the project. The protype grille looked great and I am one of the many people who sent in a deposit on your grille. At the GSCA site myself and several others have asked for updates on progress ect. and several weeks go by with no response from anyone. If you can share any info it would be great.I also suggest that you look at repro 67 Buick GS grilles next as someone else is doing 69 Buick GS grilles as we speak.

    Also

Many here are not members of the GSCA. Is it still possible for non members there but members of the BPG to purchase a 70 grille. Are they only available unpainted? If they are available painted and unpainted what are the respective prices?

  6. Olivier, welcome to the V8Buick board! Glad to have you here. This is the place to be if you want to talk Buick parts.

    Thanks for your comments.
When I started searching for somebody which was able to do this grille, I didn't realize how much time and effort it would take to have them shipped over the states !! My main problem is the shipping and packaging as there's a big difference price wise if you make one shipment or separate shipments (same problem if the grilles were done in the states). I'm doing this so I can have a grille for my own, I'm not starting a business here so I can't handle separate shipping by myself. It was agreed with GSCA that I would ship the grilles in one big box and they would do the packaging and take the deposit. There's a $100 deposit, and I think it's easier to go through a club than to ask people to send money to some guy living on the wrong side of the ocean..
The price is $500 including shipment included, I know it's more than what YearOne advertized 10 years ago ($279 +shipping) but I think the price of the used ones have more than double since.
The company which does the grilles has a pattern on the manufacturing process, and told me he can mold any kind of parts in any kind of plastic (hard, flexible, unbreakable, temperature resistant (250F), clear). The first grille was done with the same plastic used for modern car grilles (it can be painted, chromed ( !) ) I can always give him another part, that's doesn't matter to him if it's a '68 '69 '70 '71 '72 buick or else grille or other part. That all depends how the people responds to the '70. It was kind of risky to do this mold, the price is very very high so I hope everything will go well. Has for being a GSCA member or not for ordering, it's best to contact GSCA, I can't handle this issue for the above reasons, I prefer to organise the manufacturing.
    Thanks again for your support.

    well George,
no problem for a '67 or before. I have a friend who has 2 '67 GS400 (coupe and conv), but I think both of his grilles are damaged. I have to check (he had a small accident recently). But I don't know if the price can be cheaper then for used or NOS ones. But if so and if there's enough demand at least 30-40 pieces,( I know that there could be a small market for these in France as some GS400 were sold new here) why not. Like I said it just a matter of having a good piece to make the mold and to have some organisation in the states for packaging.

The picture was taken in one of the french 1/4 mile meeting (there's 3 in a year !!! ) in Lurcy (middle of France). That's my friend's '67 (damaged) and me ... close and fun race : 14.77 (me) vs 14.97.. There was also 2 other friend's GSs, a red '70 stage 1 conv and a green '71. :3gears:

    Welcome to the V8Buick Olivier.

Many thanks for helping out fellow Buick enthusiasts with your willingness to reproduce parts for our cars.

I notice you mentioned a friend that has a '70 stage1 convertible. I run a factory stage1 registry, trying to document the survivors. Can you please inform them about this documentation project? Information can be found at www.stage1registry.com

    Thanks, and again, welcome!

    what's the information you need : VIN#, options .... ?

I have a friend which tried to register the '67 GS400 here do you want the info ?
I know some '70 and '71 GSs also, but except for one they aren't stage ones. Do you want them too ?

    Hi Oliver -

The intention is to determine how many true factory stage1 cars are left. There were no factory stage1 cars in 1967.

I would require the full VIN, all cowl data plate information, all options, and what type of documentation proves it's a stage1.

THIS PAGE is from my website. Hopefully it clears up the type of information I'm looking to obtain.

Any questions? PM me on this board (during the day GMT - 5 hours) or shoot me an e-mail - marco@stage1registry.com

    Thanks!
