Reproduction 70 GS Skylark Tail Lamp Lens PRICING

Recently, I posted a couple of pictures of the reproduction tail light lenses for the 70 Buick GS/Skylark. I am now posting pricing information. Regrettably, the pricing is not as cheap as I would have preferred, but I am offering a fairly good introductory discount to all list members. The integrated back up lens increased the cost as it had to be made separately and then assembled into the red lens. Also, we have to pay GM their cut of the sales as these are Licensed Reproductons (For those interested, Yes, these are made in AMERICA by a small FAMILY owned AMERICAN company).

    SOAPBOX TIME:

We (ME INCLUDED) all complain about the lack of parts for our cars and the need for reproduciton parts. Well, here's an opportunity to step up to the plate and show you mean what you say when you want parts reproduced. As most of you know, I am busy arranging production of a NUMBER of much needed parts for our cars. However, I cannot and will not produce parts that do not sell. So, if these lenses do not sell, then I will have to seriously reconsider doing lenses for other year models. ALL profits from our reproduction parts are used for the development of OTHER reproduction items (lenses, grilles, tail light bezels, etc.). I'm not trying to put pressure on everyone to buy these lenses, but it really hurts when you have 100 people who say they want a part made, you make the part, and then 5 people are standing in line with money to buy. Why are there more reproduction parts for the other brands? BECAUSE THOSE OWNERS BUY THE PARTS.

    Here we go.

Prices include both lens (Correctly Painted) and matching gaskets.

Intro GROUP DISCOUNT price: $249.95 set or $129.95 each
Regular price: $279.95 set or $144.95 each
    SHIPPING: $9.95

Personally, I still think that this is a fair price given the inclusion of NEW gaskets. NOS gaskets generally sell for $25 or more a set.

NEW GASKETS are available for purchase separately. The pricing is as follows:

    Single Gasket: $10 each
    Set of 2: $15
    Shipping: $3.50 (US PRIORITY MAIL)

Let me assure you that these lenses are PERFECT reproductions of the original lenses with EVERY detail reproduced EXACTLY. All markings, all numbers, all symbols, all angles. EVERYTHING is perfect.

DO NOT SEND MONEY!!!!!!! We are ONLY accepting Credit Cards. The reason is that we need FIRM commitments from people.....monetary commitments. HOWEVER, our policy is to charge ONLY WHEN WE ARE READY TO SHIP AN ORDER and supplier delays really screw this up by delaying things. Having CC info allows us to charge when the item is ready without having to deal with payment delays. Plus, it helps ensure we get orders and not expressions of interest.

We need to sell 25 sets of lenses to meet the Producer's minimum production quantity requirements.

Call 678-431-1408 to reserve your set. Again, MASTERCARD and VISA only.

$249 for 2 isnt a bad deal folks...I recently called a scrap yard out in Arizona, they wanted that much for a decent used pair, and they didnt guarantee the quality :eek2: . Keep me in mind Al...I will prob purchace a set in a month or 2, I have to get my GS hood soon, and the Motorcycle is being repaired as we speak....money is sorta tight this time of year :( . Its nice to see someone finally repo'ing parts for our 70 Skylarks...keep the fight up!! :TU:

  5. Keep up the good work, Al! :) You can count on orders from me when you get to the 68 stuff! I think the prices for these lenses are reasonable, even if higher than you had wanted them to be initially. BTW, are you offering the introductory prices to users of this V8 board, or do you mean for BPG members, or both?

    Discount

Club membership is irrelevant as to the discount. Although this announcement is posted here only for right now, I will offer the same discount to GSCA members. The problem is that the GSCA board doesn't see much use anymore as best I can tell. When I go on it, there never seems to be much activity. Basically, if someone tells me they saw the announcement on this board and tells me the price, they will get the intro discount price.

I will be listing these lenses on ebay at the regular price though to generate more interest/sales.

BTW, David, the 68 lenses are already underway so you'll soon be taken care of. Just hope there's enough interest in that year model. Stan Bradford and Jeff Cornish are the only 2 people I know who are really plugged into the 68/69 crowd.

    Thanks,

    Alan

Great work! Is there a cut off date when you need the 25 orders?

    Alan,
Any idea how long this Intro-special price will last? I'm a little short on money due to the purchase of the new car, but would be interested in a pair if not two pairs. Which brings me to my next question, is there any kind of a discount on purchases of more than one set? Just thought I would ask. Thanks!:TU: We really appreciate your efforts for getting repro parts back in the game. :TU: :TU:

    Alan,

I've got a 72, but I do need gaskets for it. I'm pretty sure they are the same as the 70 gaskets.

If they are, I'll take a set of gaskets. Do you have the gaskets now?

Al, I am also wondering when the cut off time is. This is a bad time of the year with X-mas and all right around the corner. I need a set of these badly, but I probaly won't be able to buy a set till next April or May :( Also are the 72 gaskets the same as the 70 gaskets:Do No:

    Re: Thanks Alan!

We have 2 production dates. The first is the 15th of this month. They can only promise me the min. quantity (25 sets). The next production run is not until late February with arrival in March. I am doing the intro price on the first 25 sets. I won't impose a cut off date, but I will impose a quantity cut off. That is, the discounted intro price is going to be on the first 25 sets and when they are gone, the discount ends.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Gaskets

    Karl and Bob,

The tail light housings and the tail light gaskets are the same for 70, 71 and 72. The part number for the gaskets is 5963881 and fits Left and Right side. The only places that show to have original gaskets are Chicago Auto Parts, Mars Auto Parts, Llewylln Obsolete GM Parts, and Craig Motors. All have 1 each with the exception of Mars (they show having 2). The last time I contacted one of these places, they wanted $50 for the gaskets.

The gaskets will be coming with the lenses that arrive this month. I definitely need to know gasket only numbers as I have to order those separately (lens buyers get the gaskets included with the lenses).

    Thanks,

    Alan

Just want to move this back to the top. Everyone needs to see this, these guys need support.

We need to really show some support to the guys out there spending time and effort putting these resto parts out there for our projects. If you need a set of these go ahead and bite the bullit, so maybe some of the other things we want and need ( like 1970 GS Grills) will get reproduced.

    I ordered my set today.

  18. Al, if I were you, I would go to the "members rides" section, and go to the 70-72 cars topic, and PM or email everyone that posted with a 70 model. Some of those posting pics have only that post, and maybe never really check the board much.

I did my part and ordered a pair, let's see everyone else help out! You may not need them as much as someone else, but consider it a good investment on a grill later on. Not only that but you will have a nice set of taillight lenses.
