I have been told no one makes the wire to fender well fasteners are there some that are close? This is for a 1970 GS. Where should I go for my exhaust system? Are there any tips on getting the splash guard steel staples in and bent on the inner fenders. Thanks Mark

The wire/fendewell fasteners are available through various vendors. You are referring to the plastic tyrap style? Check Y-1, CARS, other vendors.

Mark, I used the staples that came with the splash guards I bought from CARS. I drilled some of the original holes larger and made some new ones when I didn't like the location of the factory ones. I bent the staples with needle nose plyers. I can't say how this would go over at a concourse resto but it works and looks good.

    3shields Let's go, MOUNTAINEERS!!!

Labor intensive.....without the proper tools for the job....

I find those to be a bear. The factory obviously used a big stapler. I usually recruit one of my buddies, a twelve pack of beer (or two), and plan on being busy for an hour or two. We use a small anvill and Trim hammer (available from eastwood products). After punching a hole thru the rubber in the proper location, we insert the staples, and slide them thru the inner fender. Then the hammer and anvill are used to bend the staples over to the proper "tension" and location. Take your time and you will be amazed how nice your results turn out.

    Enjoy!!
