Randy Rymal was selling reproduction valve covers as NOS earlier this year. Don't be fooled. While he didn't say these are NOS, he didn't say they are not. But, I'm betting these are the $250 reproductions you could buy any day of the week. I guess that's how he became known as "Ripoff Randy" in the ROA.

  2. Wow, 16 negatives/neutrals and 85 positives. Negatives all seem to be for non-payment as a buyer. I emailed asking if the covers are NOS or repros.

Earlier this year he was selling them for $275. I guess there's been some inflation in Michigan this year.

Thats about as close to saying these are originals as you could "legally" get. Has priced them like they are also. I'm no expert so I can't tell by the picture whether they are or aren't.
Glad I don't need covers or have $550.00.

  6. I've emailed back and forth twice with the seller. He's only gone as far as saying they do have GM part #'s cast in them, won't say NOS or repro. I don't know if there were licensed repros ever made? He also stated he bought them at the Flint shindig for about $300. Can you say "profit"...

    Repros have part numbers

Yes reproductions have part numbers. They were cast into the bottom side of the cover. Here's where you can buy them for a lot cheaper.

$259 not including breather or shipping.

  8. Bob, just curious here, but is there a visual difference between the NOS covers, and the licensed repros?

The Buicks on the sides and the edges of the ribs were polished on the originals. You can also see if you look inside that the casting numbers are not as crisp.

    Update

There has been a LOT of activity about Randy Rymal selling crap on eBay lately on the ROA mailing-list.

Avoid him at all costs I'd say

    Friendly advice/warning

I had near miss with him about 3 years ago, but he telegraphed his moves and I backed away. What surprises me is that he still uses his real name. Dan

Yes-this is an old post. Some things have changed-Bob passed away in spring of '04, but Randy is still creating havoc as he changes ebay user names and still ripping off folks-

I just got a rear view mirror from him on ebay. When I went to leave feedback, His user name has been removed from ebay. We can't link anything since he's gone from ebay.
