.....are you running? If you've noticed Amazon has screaming deals for the A-bodies, but nothing for us????? I soon will be wanting headers and 2 1/2 in system, but nothing is made specific for us. Or at least I haven't come acros anything. There are 2 muffler shops local to me, but no mandrel bending capabilities. Soooooooo whats a fella to do??????:Do No:

I was going to use a system for the 90's Impala SS and then just get an x-pipe and make up the difference in length when that gets connected to the rest of the system.

Magnaflow shows down to only '75. I'm afraid I would ruin a set trying to mod it for fitment....:Dou:

Here's what you do. Try the kit I'm linking to. You cut the intermediate pipes at the point that seems most beneficial to clear the crossmember. Then you run your downpipes and figure out the piece that is needed to fit the gap. That will be a custom piece that will align everything and tie it all together. The only custom part of the system will be 2 pipes that are both about 2' long with a couple bends. You can have them bent up the cheap way and then sent out to be used as templates for mandrel bent pieces if needed.

Cool. I found Walker makes 'em, but only for 73 and up Rivs. What is the differences between these years???

we have that weird frame shaped in an "X" under our cars. I don't see how an x pipe would work. If you wanted to do that way you would have to do a cross over equalizer pipe in front of the trans.

The x-frame is going to be a problem as far as an off the shelf kit goes. That's why I figure your best bet is to make up custom intermediate pipes to handle that end. My wonder is how do the rear pipes route around that weird gas tank you guys are running? It may be a matter of just doing full custom front to rear.

No Briz, My 66 has the X frame like your 68, but the 71 is a perimiter frame like the 73's -right??? Trying to figure out what on earth would be the differences from 71-73. Any chance the company would be out of touch with the fitment between these years????
Sheesh, I haven't even thought about the '66. It will never be done, at least by me. Anybody want it??? Super cancer free ('cept trunk pan) give a screaming deal..:)

Still waiting to hear from Flowmaster and Magnaflow and Godot....

    The reply:

    "Hello

Custom applications with Magnaflow mufflers would need to be built by an exhaust shop. Magnaflow only manufactures the exhaust that are listed on our website. Thank you for contacting Magnaflow."

Snap a pic of the current exhaust by laying under the rear end. That way we folks who don't have your year/make/model can help figure things out for you.

I'm wondering about that kidney bean tank and how much room that takes up, if your car still uses it that is.

Other than a replacement or custom exhaust (because of the X frame design) on the '66-'70 models, the only option I know of is TA performance. Check their website. They offer a 2.5 and 3 inch system for the 455 cars. Nailheads are a problem probably 'cause of the head pipes.
