I'm curious here. And FWIW I will be posting the same question on my local Mopar board. What's the story behind the supposed drag racing 'rivalry' between Mopars and Buicks?
Half of the story is always better then none. The buick was supposed to run with slicks supplied by MCR and when the Buick put the slicks on,one of them was flat,so the Buick camp decided to run MH's in it's place. The week after the race,Bob L.went to a local track and he run in the '50's.Was it fair to have one running with better tires? No,but to his credit,Bob wanted to run and he did to his disadvantage.BrunoD.
Yeah well, the Buick still won 2 outa 3, and in my book that's a winner! Poor hemi guys had to keep trying till they got a stroke of luck:laugh:
So thats why all the Mopar guys at my track hate my Buick. And here all this time I thought it was because my taillights where to bright. You should here all of the excuses when my low compression 72 Buick beats the tracks only other close to stock high compression 440 Six pack Road Runner. I run 8.25 (2700ft 1/8th mile) on plain old low grade regular and the Mopar runs 8.55 on supper. It looks even worse when I get a .020 light and he gets a .300 light which is 9 times out of 10.
Your reaction times r on a foot brake right? That is good wish i could do half that on a foot brake. Jamie
I seem to recall a round three. Wasnt it in Canada? The Diabo's yellow X vs some Hemi Cuda. I read that the Cuda red lighted on the first round. When the Mopar guys saw the time the GSX ran, they put the Cuda up on the trailer and wouldnt run. Hot Rod called it a non-shootout.
A lot of people are happy with .050 on footbrake. I usually run .013 to .025. At devision 6 finals I ran .005-.009 every round until i broke out in the semi-finals. I think you are correct. Except the way I remember is that the Cuda was from Canada. But every thing else is what you said.
