Does anyone know if there is any wreckers or vendors that sell parts for the older Rivs. I need some parts for mine and all I can find is parts in the States. I need a fender and a drivers rear quarter piece. Shipping from the states would kill me for these parts.

    Thanks

Don't know your location but here in the Maritimes old cars are few & far between.
May stumble across one occasionally but likely corroded severely. Road salt & the salt air play havoc with steel.
Most of what I buy comes from the southern states.
One in WA I call sometimes too. Buick World 360-825-3787 Ask for Gibb.
I know he had a few Rivieras last year.

    Know all about it!
After shipping add the duty, brokerage fees, HST & exchange.
Welcome to the wonderful world of old Buicks.

  5. does it cost to go from providence to providence up there with charges or just over the borders
maybe we all need to get together with tom (64lark) he is in monitoba and comes down once in awhile
there are alot of parts to be had but no one seems to want to by them because of shipping costs as well as the part cost
the cars will be crushed sooner or later but nothing more can be done besides what we do here and on ebay

Province to province is ok. Its from the states to here. I found alot of good fenders down there. Just don't want to pay $200 for shipping....Guess I might have to.

That would work for a lot of folks. Still possibly pay a 15% HST at the border.
Brokerages & duties would be eliminated. Freight in Canada to add later.
Also, must be willing to help recoup Tom's costs, fuel, packaging etc..
Still sounds do-able & I'd be very interested in this.
Fellow member here brought up a sport wheel for me from Florida, last year.
This was a very hard to find Sandalwood Rallye Wheel. Was not comfortable letting a courier loose it or damage it. Not worth a fortune, but try to find another. I've seen only 2 in 3 years.

I'd be in for that too. It sure would save alot on shipping for the big parts.

  9. then i think i would need to see when and how many times he comes over the border yet
and see if he even wants to do this
he came down by me a year ago and i know he's been back and forth getting other things from others in the past year as well

hey Shane, there is a wreckers located in Lethbridge that used to have a lot of old buicks. some have been sitting there since the days I restored my stage 1 (like 18 years ago!)... the name was marshalls auto wreckers, they had some surprising stuff there but I was always too busy with my own (70-72GS) to be carrying out Riv parts etc.

Last time I was there was 2003. picked up mint door for my ragtop. Sometimes they will let you walk through, just show up with a long list of what you need and they usually let you in. As usual , all the dorks breaking glass and stuff caused issues so they don't let just anyone in anymore.

    Or call them, number 403 328 3316.

Not even sure info is still valid, but give it a shot.

    later

Like all our cars in Canada - a lot of them have suffered the effects of our climate, and have been eaten up by the dreaded tin worms, brought on by prolonged exposure to road salt, and less than ideal environmental conditions, not to mention the older stuff that has long since gone to the crusher!
Sometimes you have to bite the bullet, and cover the shipping on those RF expensive imported US parts, cause they are just not available north of the 49th !
If you are lucky enough to live in close proximity to some of the US sources (Carlisle,PA - Iola,WI, etc.,) you can bring them back into the country, and the shipping charges will usually cover the cost of your trip, or a good portion thereof.
Back in the late 60's, I remember seeing 'acres' of mid 50's to 60's Ford and GM cars in the wrecking yards - try and find one good one now!
The environmental governing bodies with thier regulations and controls haven't helped the situation iether.
I hear what your saying about shipping costs - but sometimes yah gotta pay the piper - it's part of being in the hobby of old vehicles !

. . . sorry for the long post. :Comp: :TU: :beer
