I need to rebuild the 2 barrel carb on my 67 special. I've never even had one apart before. Done lots of Q-jets. how hard are they to rebuild and are they pretty finicky?
I did mine over summer,no problem but watch the heat choke spring posistion,i'm still fighting that since i didnt pay attentionp
Very simple carb, just pay attention of the linkage positions and the choke spring during disassembly. If the choke plate is pinched in the bore when closed, remove the air cleaner stud from the top and tap on the stud mount several times to free up the choke plate. Try not to over tighten the wing nut to keep it from happening again.
I posted a whole sequence of steps and pictures a couple of years back on how to build a Rochester 2GV carburetor that should help - here's the link: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=86177
Wow,that thread takes care of the 2bbl rebuild for sure, thanks for posting the original and the link.Good reading.
