Rochester 2GV (rebuild cleaning) + gasket residue Hi , I just took off my carbs off the car and wonder how to clean up the stuff resting on the intake (gasket residue) and how to avoid having some pieces into the intake's hole . I'd also wanna replace the PCV valve hose who is dried(cracked) at both end . Where I could find one hose like this ? I know the engine is not the right color ...
After some research over the internet I did it with a little spray of carb cleaner a wood scisor and a towel , paying attention not to put some residue in the intake holes .
I always just stick a piece of duct tape over the holes or stuff a shop towel into them.... either way.... simple green is good... but the very best is a steam cleaner... the carb does not look too bad.... I use lacquer thinner to clean carbs .... inside and out....
Thank you , and for the dried pcv valve hose (behind the carb) is it still available anywhere ? Or I go to a shop and bend it like the old one hoping it keep the same shape ???
Just use a good piece of fuel hose.... that is all the factory originally used.... wont hurt a thing....
Thank you Doc :TU: That's what I was hoping for . Now the engine is gonna be ready to receive the carb but the carb isn't ready yet ... as the guy doing it (me) still has some things to learn in the process  To be followed !
Hello , I just started to disasemble my carb . Some question came to mind as I go to - Did the round plastic cover "pop" to open ? (for better cleaning) (pic 1) - Did the long screw that goes across can be unscrew or ne need to touch it ? (pic 2)
there is a thread about rebuilding a 2GV somewhere on the board. search for it. I would leave that screw alone.
Thanks for the replies ... I read the famous post (if it weren't I wouldn't give it a shot lol) but as you maybe know english is my second language , there is some words & terms I didn't know about
I just bought one foot of fuel hose and an 90 degree elbow because it won't bend like the original one . (less than 5$)
