How hard is it to remove/replace the tips on the rocker arms? I am trying to refresh my engine and one of the tips looks a little more worn than the rest. I have a spare set of rockers assemblies that I could possibly swap a tip off of if that can be done. I seem to remember seeing replacement tips on TA Performance website. anyone have success doing this?
IF the T/A tips are what I've seen for replacements in the past they are way too THICK & will sink the pushrod into the lifter too deep taking up all preload. What engine are we talking about??? If a NailHead they pop right out. Best to use good used ones. Just MHO
It's a '66 401. I'm putting fresh gaskets, new oil pump, and new lifters. Got all of those from Russ Martin at Centerville. I have another set of rocker arm assemblies I can scavenge tips from I just didn't want to start banging on them with a punch, or drift, without talking to people first. Trying to preserve things as best I can since I can't afford a full rebuild right now.
