Well after 8 months I got my car back from the body shop for a paint job and overall I rate the end product as excellent. BUT, I need some help. I intended to not replace some of the trim such as body side moldings, trunk lid moldings, etc. and clearly marked all the holes to be welded. Well despite clearly marking with a Sharpie the welder - who did a great job - filled a few holes too many. He filled all the holes for the brackets and "biscuits" that
hold up the rocker panel moldings. Does anyone have a car at the right stage of restoration who could measure the placement of the holes I need to redrill to remount the brackets and biscuits? Your help would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

    Dean,
Get the mouldings loosely mounted at the bottom. Gently mark a line along the top edge once you are happy with the placement. With the mouldings off you can bring the biscuits up to the line. This will position the centre hole in the biscuits and the steel guide for the forward portion. Allow a bit for the thickness of the moulding sheetmetal. One near each end & split the remaining distance with the rest. I did mine this way as the car was without them when built.

    Steve,

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion but I have a follow up question. When I removed the molding and the mounting hardware the metal strip was located starting on the lower front fender and the 5 biscuits were behind that. Is that how they are suppose to be arranged or was that modified from original? Thanks.

    George,

Thanks again for your expertise and your efforts at documenting the different items needed to restore our Buicks. I have used your site for many other projects but never caught the one about the rocker panels. It is exactly what I needed. Thanks again to all who responded to my thread.
