The majority of roll cages ive seen are welded to the frame. Is it a regulation that it has to be welded to the frame? i was thinking about putting one in, but wanted to bolt it in so i could remove it if i needed to.
Roll bar not cage? If you have a car with a (OEM) frame the roll bar can be bolted or welded to the frame. I think your really wanting a roll bar not a roll cage. If you want to confirm to NHRA regulations there is alot more than just bolting the bar to the frame. There are height, cross bar, seat bracing, roll bar padding, and other requirements that go along with installing a roll bar. A roll cage must offer 360 degree protection and has far more requirements than a roll bar. I am quoting just some of the requirements out of the 2006 NHRA rule book.
oh. well i was thinking about something thats around the inside of the shell, goes to the frame on the front, goes to the frame through the trunk, and goes to the frame just behind the door and just in front of the door. was thinking about it mainly for structural support.
So you won't be racing at an ET/Speed that will require you to run one? Typically that's been 11.49 or quicker ET (used to be 11.99) or a convert running 13.99 or quicker. If you aren't required to run it... chewing gum and duct tape it is :TU: ou:
well, i dont plan to run it in this car...YET :Brow: that urge always comes though, id probably be happy in the low 12's. maybe i should save the roll cage money and put it to better use until i win the lotto.
