How come noo one has said Mr. Wizard or that really dumb one Double Dare!?!?! Those show rocked!!! Misses eighties tv programming, Patrick
I watched Romper Room. That woman NEVER said my name either! I was so jealous when she would say my brother and sisters names. Most of the time they were napping and not even watching the show! Damn her for ruining my life! I'd be employed right now if I didn't have the "invisible complex" problem How bout "it's howdy doody time, it's howdy doody time" WOW I AM OLD! <sigh>
Ah, I remember that show, and hoping she'd say my name with the magic mirror. Wasn't her name Miss Sally?
There were a number of different hosts. There is some info on the show in the link in the first post, along with some funny vids from the show.
The show was "franchised", so that individual tv stations could have their own versions of the show. That is why it was filmed in Boston, Atlanta, and Bowling Green. The original show was from Baltimore. Also, no tapes of the shows exist anymore- every day they taped over the previous day's show... (No, I'm not a Romper Room junkie but I just checked out that website link at the top) -Bob C.
I don't remember the host's name either......seems to me it was Miss Betty here in MN, but not sure. I do remember the magic mirror, and who can forget my favorite song....not positive about the words anymore, but it goes something like this: Bend, stretch......reach for the sky Here comes Jupiter passing by Bend, stretch....reach for the stars There goes Jupiter, here comes Mars! Looking back, there sure were a lot of double entendres in that show!:Brow:
My older brother used to think the show was stupid...waking up early in the morning to watch other kids play. BTW, my name (Langston) was never said either LOL
I remember watching all those shows. Remember seeing Morgan Freeman in Electric Company? I also was nuts about Battle of the Planets and Star Blazers. How bout the short lived cartoon "Wheeley and the Chopper Bunch"? Remember Speed Buggy? Ah the good ol days.. Todd
