Sounds like you already decided. I have a set up like what JW posted. I put the valves in the torque tubes and have bullet mufflers with tun down after that. Had it for several years and can feel the vacuum when testing. I have no comparison numbers for you though.

I'm going to be using the M/E Wagner Dual Flow Adjustible PCV on my latest 470 Street/Strip set-up I'm building now. It may take me a while to finish it but I will post my results when do. www.mewagner.com

Not sure how this will help at the track. No one races at part throttle. At WOT, there is no vacuum (or at least there better be close to no vacuum), so any PCV valve is just along for the ride.

Header evac systems work well if installed correctly and the mufflers are the straight-through type.

The problems with traditional PCV systems is that they pollute your engine with blow-by gasses and oil vapors as well as are ineffective @ WOT as mentioned. The results are usually diluted/polluted air-fuel mixture, oil leaks and carbon build-up.

Header evac systems work well unless you have non-straight through mufflers. So for a true street car that sees track time there really isn't a perfect solution when using non-race mufflers.

Vacuum pumps work well for full-race engines, but really aren't designed for street use. And they are expensive.

My GSX uses a Moroso vacuum pump and the convertible uses a PCV valve because of the Walker Dynomax mufflers. And yes, the convertible needs a large cookie tray under it to catch the oil drips.

Pan evac's will work if you put them in after the mufflers.

Just my experience but I ran a Evac setup.years ago and I ran long case walker turbos and I could pull oil cap.off and you.could hear it pulling could also.put a business card over the hole and it would stay firmly in.place

We have used this set up for a couple years with good results. We took a mr. gasket breather and drilled a hole in the top and put a grommet and the PCV in there. We then take a hose of the end of the breather down to the header collector and a fresh air breather on the drivers side valve cover. Some guys plug the drivers side valve cover but we saw no increase on the dyno.. I am looking at the PCV that Lawrence posted as we speak.

    Thanks

lots of good advice. Thanks members, and JW for this board. I'll pull the headers and weld in the "nipples". Gotta like that word huh? Can't wait for spring and a dry track! Winter should go away already. Jim P

MachineFarmer, evidently you have never heard of Billy Glidden getting caught in the 10.5 Outlaw class and being disqualified for that particular action, I see. Well its a old trick and it does work very effectively . But the GM air pump ( Smog pump ) does work very well but it seems that a lot of people don't go on other sites to comfirm this. I have and still use the Smog pump for a evac system to better seal my piston rings and not just suck out B.S. ;) Call Scotty at scotty's racing on the nitro filled oil, I bet he does know about it ;) Good luck on your endeavors . Sincerely Gary M.
