Like I said in my earlier post, use a 4 leg stand and DON'T REV IT. You raise the idle where you need it but don't stand on the throttle. We don't put a thermostat in it and run a garden hose in the water pump intake. It gets warm enough and less headaches trying to fit a radiator to it. Every motor gets done this way. Also, you need enough clearance between the flexplate bolts and the stand.
I ran my 455 this last winter on a stand after rebuilding it and just chained it to the rafters to keep it from torquing over. It worked great, I have video of it but would need a site to host the clip because of the size. I call it a poor mans dyno. The engine sounds great with open exhaust and revs real quick because of the light (no torque converter) flywheel.
A flexplate and a flywheel are the same thing? Thanks for all the ideas, I will see what I can come up with. Pics when I'm done!
NO, they are not the same. "Flexplate" is used in conjunction with an automatic transmission. They are generally not very thick. "Flywheel" is used in conjunction with a manual transmission and are a friction surface for the clutch, therefore they are very thick and quite heavy. :Smarty: :TU:
