A buddy of mine has a 69 camaro with a low mounted alternator . The problem is he has broken the bolt off that mounts into the block 2 times The bracket is sort of horseshoe shaped with 3 holes one for alt.belt adj one for the block and one for the head. The one for the head is sort of L shaped with a long bolt through the main bracket with a round spacer behind it and a plate about 4 inches long which hooks between long bolt/ spacer and head I think he is getting flex at this point causing the bolt in the block to break. It looks kind of flimsy to me. Does anyone know of a good low mount bracket setup they could reccomend ? This is a pretty serious engine victor Jr heads and mowtown block. Any advice would be appreciated!

I don't know what brand of mount he has, but, the aftermarket stuff I have looked at did not impress me.

I ended up making my own low mount for my BBC and based the adjuster on my Subaru. It adjusts the tension by tightening a bolt and locking it with a nut.

Back to the mount :Brow: I braced the pivot bolt to another hole in the front of the block with a steel strap (welded I think). Made the whole thing a whole lot sturdier.

I will try to get a picture tonight (may not turn out too good, the engine is still in the car).

If you look at the factory mounts for accessories, they are usually very sturdily built and/or braced, no reason I can see other than they have to be that way! Lots of stresses involved: tension, vibration and bumps.
