Legendary prostock and factory A/FX racer from the 60's Ronnie Sox has passed away from cancer. He was known as Mr. 4 Speed for his skills @ rowing a 4 cogger thru the gears and winning many national events. His primary rides were hemi powered but some of his early rides were Mercury Comets and a couple of Z-11 Impalas. Sad to see some of our racing heros gone, earlier this year we lost Dyno Don.

Just saw Ronnie about 6 months ago. He was at a show signing autographs notwithstanding he had been in poor health. Last year he put on a match race against his son with a couple of hemi cars with the 4 speed at his home track Piedmont Drag strip in Liberty, N.C. He still shifted the 4 speed without letting the front wheels touch. He had plans to do that some more but the Grim Reaper intervened and deprived us of that replay. Correct me if I am incorrect but I think he was a 5 time national champ.

    VERY SAD NEWS.
Met Ronnie the 1st time in 70 @ Quaker. His Duster vs. Arlen Vanke Match Racing, and they held the Chevy I had lined against to let S&M Duster come to the line with me.
1st time on a Strip, so I backed out of the lights. I think it may have been McCandless Driving that night, and he Bulbed.
I COULD possibly have beaten the S&M Car. DUH!!!!
Met and talked with him at several events over the Years, alway willing to speak with people, and was a Real Gentleman and Ambassador of the Sport.
    He will be Missed.
