last year we had a big thing about safety after bob's accident and i go over to the "whoa and sway" section and i still find people trying to go the cheapest way on braking.

    WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYBODY??

the most important performance part of your car and everybody worries about dollars. if you cant stop, you could kill somebody or yourself or ruin your car. i just dont understand.

    Right on!

    John:

I have always believed that the brakes were the most mportant part of any performance vehicle. If you can't stop, what good does it do you to go really fast?? You just die faster!

For an example of how brakes are supposed to work, take a look at(or better yet, a ride on) any recent sportbike. These things have brakes that will put the back end of the bike in the air!!! (done it, woohoo)

I preach to my friends and my nephew (who started racing last year!!) about brakes all the time. In my sig is my racecar that runs 143 mph in the quarter, I had decent brakes on it up until last year. They were GM disk and drums from a 70's A-body. Work good up to about 100mph, after that you had better pray, I had both feet on the pedal to the end of the shut down and still had to round the corner with some speed. I changed to Wilwood disks around, and now I can stop half way through the shut down :TU:

I now feel more confident at those speeds and will actually feel comfortable going faster!
