saving posts

I have a question how do I save a thread or a post so I can refer to it later without having to go back thru all the threads to find it? I'm not a whiz at computers but if someone could assist me in this I would appreciate it, thanks in advance :TU:

 

Mike, click on "thread tools" link along the top of a post in the thread. In there, click on the Subscribe option. Later, you can click on the "quick links" menu at the top right area of any forum page, and in there is a link to go to your subscribed threads. OR, if you post in the thread in question, there is an option below the area where you type your message, where you can choose to receive automatic emails when anyone posts on that thread.

 

I save TONS of info from this board!
But I save it to my computer.....
Simply highlight the info (right click on the mouse, and drag it over the info) another right click, hit 'Copy'....
Open up a word processor (I use 'WordPad'), 'Paste' the info, then save the file...I have a 'Buick' folder, with sub folders like 'Carbs', 'Interior' , etc. :Comp:
It's also a good idea to save the original posters name, and even the link to the original post. If you ever want to pass the info on to someone else, it's nice to give credit to the original poster!

 

If it is really important, I like to back it up the old fashioned way: by printing it out.

 

you can subscribe by going to thread tools & subscribing to this thread
if you want to make a new & separate folder then go to use options click on edit folders & make the title you want & then you will have the option of a from drop button at the 1st part I explained

PS you got to double click on the screen shots to be able to read them the lil box in the bottom right when you mouse over it

This is what I do for info I don't want to get gone. The boards had "boo boos" in the past and good info was lost.

If you are using Netscape click on "File" in the upper left, then "save page as".

Internet Explorer is "File", then "Save as".

Just choose a place to save it (I made a folder called "saved pages") and use a file name that fits the thread.

On threads with more than one page you will need to do this for each page. I just tack "page 1", "page 2" etc to the end of each file name.
