its been 12 years how long does it take my 3rd time down the track on nitrous I ran 11.81@112 125 shot .40 and 4mph away. 150 shot should do it how can a guy with that caliber break not 1 but 2 400 trans with a little 630 hp motor, some one aint building those trans correctly those guys running 11's with 456 gears are practically stock not too many trying very hard over here taking too long. future developments jeeze how long is that gonna take going solid lifter
I have no 350 sbb and no plans of getting one but I was excited when they were in the making and happy for GS 350 owners finally. Covid didn't help the situation but is it still hindering the heads? My dumb butt is just making a statement.. as this has all been covered. TA should really post and tell what the deal is.. Alot of members here have to know talented machinists to recommend to TA maby as a push. I know it's not that easy.. Yes TA should do the basic start out machining, decks, intake and exhaust facing and plugs and thread tapping to have bare machined castings and go from there as I think they will have a better chance of selling that way and the owners can have a shop cut the valves and what else they choose to do. Unless i'm way wrong and that CNC machine is whats needed to do the work plus the ports and the top valve train setup which gives the choice of rocker shafts or a chevy style setup ? TA owns the CNC machine if i'm right. Then pay a ok wage to someone to finish the pallet of 25 sets of heads. The AL heads obviously make alot better power when ported at level 1 and more. Plus the weight difference and more compression and less cracking than the irons. This Scotty Brown thread proves it. Please TA or Jim W who know the deal involved chime in and tell me what i'm wrong. Did Mike Jr's motor survive the awful crash? What a way to promote the heads by putting it in another car and running it down a track.
I thought TA gave the option to use a chevy style setup on the 350 AL heads? At least I thought I read it on one of Mike Jr. posts. Now I need to re read it but I get your post. Oh yes Mart from what iv'e seen shaft rockers are the best.
Yeah it was said you could do this on those alums if you wanted. But why, the shaft system is better, yep the shaft rollers will cost a lot but it is one time for the next 24-30 years. If I order them today with porting how long should it take and are the heads still available? Anyone know or did the boat set sail on this, did I just wait too long ? Nobody says anything on here what gives.
Call TA direct.... Call TA direct...get the skinny. And I doubt hardly anyone put chev rockers on those heads.
I'm sure they do also but at least they should chime in and tell the truth if the boat set sail let Fox's Den mentioned.. As all we have heard is they can't find a CNC porter.. TA has ALOT on their plate we do get it. So far there's only 3 members to get a idea of just how good these heads are.. TA themselves as long as the motor survived the accident.. Scotty browns heads and what ever motor they go on and 72GS4speed build.. Something I think is telling all of us is that they will do well..
I should clarify my post. Anytime those guys post they are inundated with replies and questions that they don't have time to respond to. Managing social media accounts is a full time job..
Looks like he got his suspension dialed in. Jay Michael is the only one I follow/like to see run with his 350, he’s N/A The turbos are neat but slap a turbo on anything it’s going to make it quicker.
I'm going to see if they'll do a lay-a-way w/no big upfront deposit & no porting. Maybe $50-100/mo. & see what comes first - The heads being done or them being paid for in full. I'm in no real hurry but do want a set.
When I ordered mine I put a thousand down, then another thousand a few weeks later, I was told they won’t accept anymore money for a deposit, and they’d let me know when they’re done and I could pay the balance due. They MAY do it differently now, I’m not sure.
I'm in the same boat. I know I want to use a set someday, but I don't even have a car for a 350 build yet, let alone a motor to throw the heads on. But I want to grab a set before they possibly become unobtainium.
Oh yes I forgot. I heard he doesn't share much info though Did he just knock off another .2 seconds? I thought he did a 12.12 ish with iron heads and swapped to the aluminums and broke into a 11.92? Now it's a 11.73..
I don't want to put that much down at once. Too many other big ticket items to buy for the cars (interiors, bumper re-chroming, etc., etc., etc.) and not enough cash. As I've said, they should really just take orders for the heads at this point w/o a deposit since the castings are paid for. Charge the deposit when they're ready to be machined and the balance when done. Some of those orders won't pan out but so what. I'm going to do another set of big valve ported iron heads too for one car's engine & going to send my crank out this summer for small journals/stroking/etc.
Oh I didn't read the info part.. Got to see. Also have members Darron72Skylark and PartsrParts.. Seems no one has run them at the track or are still slowly building. That seems like the 5 machined sets that TA did sell?
Wow he has a overdrive to street drive it Edit: tons of goodies and i'm guessing the fuel injection makes it streetable..
