Does anyone know the best way to clean my seatbelts and the take up spool housings? I have 5 sets of black, no problem there. My 72 Stage 1 convt. has burnished copper paint with a brown/ tan interior with the white top. It's original belts are/ were tan, almost gold color. Warm soapy water? Any proven methods are greatly appreciated. Thanks. Upstaged in Michigan.

Use some very hot water, rubber gloves so you don't burn your hands and some good dishwashing soap like Dawn. Use a stiff brush and scrub with the belt.....with the grain. Then rinse with hot water and let them dry in the sun. If you have stains, get some SEM vinyl dye and they will look like new.

The warm water and a scrub brush works but that color will never be perfect. Snake Oil Products can replace the belt part but they get big bucks.

Thanks for the responses. I will try the scrub method and hope the sun shines here in Michigan! Upstaged.

I also soaked & scrubbed my set a couple years ago. Rather than sun dry, as it's pretty rare in these parts,I used a shop-vac to dry them off & let them hang in the shop for a couple days. I found the water pretty dirty in the vac
which told me a lot of the dirt was still embedded after scrubbing.
