secondaries are bogging!

    Good picture; thank you very much. This, unfortunately does not test the diaphragm, which can appear bottomed when the choke is fully open, with no pressure in the opposite direction. With the load of the choke, it will not draw in all the way if defective. Good input from all. I hope this helps fix the problem. Ray

    Okay I checked the srewdriver in the power piston hanger and it moves freely. I think I am finaly on the right track with the linkage to the air valve, it isn't holding it shut at all when the break is on. There is about 2cm of play in the air valve. I don't have a choke assembly on at all, could that be part of the problem. Could it be that the front break I have is for a different Q jet? Should I just bend the rod so it holds shut? Might as well right? Thanks again for all the input, I really do need to find a good book on these carbs!

    That would be Rochester Carburetors by Doug Roe. The Q-jet bible! I believe it is still in print.
