In the next few days or so I'll be sending out my dash for rechroming
Its actually not my dash but one I bought on ebay so I wouldnt have much down time of my car.

My question is, I was looking at Mr G's.
and he has 2 listed, black and chrome.

    1970-71 Buick Skylark Chrome & Detail (Paint) Dash Bezel # 1232081 0r 3 ................................204.45
1972 Buick Skylark Chrome & Detail (Paint) Dash Bezel (Black Wall) ...................................204.45

Well the dash in my car is chrome, and its a 72... by Mr G I should have a black dash?

Secondly, who else does these dashes? Is there any recomendation for another chromer?

Historically, Mr.Gs sold the plastic rechroming service on an exchange basis. That means that you get a finsihed part back in trade for your good core.

The issue I have with this process (and Mr.Gs) is that the part you get back will probably have a poorer quality core than the one you send in.

I found them to have a poor attitude and poor customer service.

My advice is to look elsewhere.

I have read concerns of Mr. G's core on this web but have only heard good things from people that have actually used them. I think Jim W at Tri-Shield also offers this service.

Many have complained about Mr Gs. On the other hand respected members like Geoge N. use them.

Only problem as stated above many cores have cracks etc. You send them a good one and get someone elses trash unless you get lucky.

    OK by me...

Although I have not used Mr. G's for the dash rechroming I did get the chrome armrest backing plates from them several years ago, exchange service.
    No complaints.

This place does a great job. Good work, great to deal with, they have a US address for shipping purposes, and you get your own part back. They also called me a couple of times in the process to make sure they were doing just what I wanted. They take a while, though. http://www.cvvacuumplaters.com/

I have dealt with Chuck, at CV and his work ethic is excellent !
Although it took two attempts to get my part exactly the way it should have been the first time round,
    - they paid all additional shipping charges.
His attitude to customer satisfaction, is most commendable ! :TU:

Not to defend Mr G's but I have used them 10+ times now for Skylarks and Cutlass models.

Based on my experience.....if it was an exchange as some members have stated it would not take 2-3 months for my parts to come back....so this negates those comments about an "exchange".

Glen has been very honest and helpful with me. If I had a problem, I could call him and ask him what the status is of my parts. Only problem I had...happened once....one part I sent in to be redone was not shipped back to me. He checked his parts list from me.....I enclose one when I send all the parts to him......he noticed the error and sent out my part right away.

Jim at Tri-Shield used to offer this service but the last time I spoke to him....he said he is no longer doing them.

As for the instrument cluster choice.....standard is black for regular Skylarks. If you have have woodgrain or going to install woodgrain....then select the next level.
