Discussion in 'The Bench' started by 64skylarkcanada, Feb 20, 2005.

  1. I took my car in to the shop get it ready for the spring . they later called me and said to come and look at the car we started it on fire by accident. I went and looked at it under the hood the engine compartment the motor all need to be painted. My Question to the group is the shop said they will fix and it will all look fine but what are my options if it deos not meet my expectations.

I would be quite upset too. Did you have "before Pics"? Definitely go and take current pics of it now in the charred state. I would also entertain the thought of consulting your lawyer depending on the severity. Real bummer anyway. Good luck.
Maybe post some before and after pics on the board...

Let them know your expectations up front! At least they will know what to aim for.

Get your insurance involved. You can have it fixed at the shop of your choice. If it's there now, great.

if the shop has agreed to repair any damage, they have admitted fault. pictures? yes.
create a document describing all the items that need to be repaired on the car, at the shop's expense. have the manager/owner & a witness sign the document. now u have a legal contract .

Thats one reason why I never leave my car at any shop. I always watch what they do to the car.

    That sucks!!!!

But sh*t happens. The fact they called you and let you know it happened and offered to fix it says a little about their integrity. I agree with the other poster who said, let them know your expectations. If they are a quality business, they will meet or exceed. I am sure they did not intend for this to happen....... at least I hope.

Ask them to keep you in the loop. Take pictures

Being a shop owner, I would suggest not throwing a lawer in front of them. It would cause me to walk away and just let the insurance handle it. I know if it were my fault, as long as the customer allowed, I would make it better than when it got here and throw in a little something for the inconvenience.
