I need to buy a set of slicks for my 72 GS. It currently runs low to mid 11's, I will be upgrading to Stage 2 heads this winter. My 60'S are in the 1.52-1.54 range. What brand, size, sidewall(stiff?), etc do you guys recommend? Thanks!

Hoosier 30"X9" Radial slicks. High 9's in a 3700lb. car and they are a dream to drive at 134+ MPH. Sixty foot times in the 1.30's

"Radial Slicks"? I haven't seen these in Summit. Are they the Quick Time Pros? I need to buy something before October.

    Best ET so far: 12.61 with a 1.8 60' w/BFG Drag Radials.
I have a new 'built' 12-bolt so feel comfortable putting sticky tires on this year.

    Thanks.

Gary, The ET Streets work well into the 10's in a heavy car, just as long as your suspension is set up well. You can get some information on the Radial slicks on the Harlow racing tire website and the Hooser website. I don't mean the Quick Times, not to say they don't work, just don't have any experience with them.

    Thanks Jeff.

It's getting close to crunch time and I don't want to make a poor decision. It's been between ET Streets and QT Pros. Don't need a DOT tire really. Considered going with a straight slick since they won't be street-driven but not sure of what my weak point would be. Just built a stout 12-bolt with Eaton 3.55, Mark Williams axles, Ford-style bearing ends, etc. but also have a new CA Perf. 200-4R that might be the weak spot if I hook real hard. The trans is built but just not too sure yet, Vegas will be the first time down the track with the new setup.

Suspension is boxed lower, Hotchkis adjustable upper, Edlebrock IAS, stock swaybar, airbag.

I thought I'd been told the QT Pros were better than ET Streets for a heavy car. Maybe I read it bass-ackwards.

Didn't care too much for the Drag Radials but I know others who do.

    So:

    Figuring on 28 x 10.5 on the 15 x 8 Centerline Autodrags.
    The 200 has a lower 1 & 2 gear than the 400.

    ET Streets?
    QT Pros?
    Slicks?

So far so good. Had some issues with the throttle and TV linkages hanging up but got that handled. Runs about 150-165 until I go up a grade in OD then gets to about 175-180. No issues that couldn't be solved but customer service was so-so at best.

I haven't spanked on it hard yet. Still taking it pretty easy on the new rearend until I can get the lube swapped out.

It is a dream to drive in OD at 80mph and up though. That with the Global West uppers and lowers, etc. it's a handling SOB. Going to try on some 17s off Rich's car when in Vegas to see if I can handle the look, then maybe go that route next year. As it is now with the 15s I don't think I have the kahones to push it to the limit. 45mph corners at 75 is totally uneventful. And the double kickdown is a pretty cool feature.
