Scott, The Sloan Research center has "some" of the documents that Buick was going to throw out at one time. This includes order information on cars from part of 1970 and up (except '71). They do not have any info listed by VIN for pre 1970 cars. If you have a 1970 and up car you can give them your VIN and they may be able to tell you how your car was ordered from the dealer. This service cost $25 (I think). Without being able to tell "Andy" at Sloan what specifically you are looking for (1965 info) it would be difficult to tell what they may have for you. If you were to visit the Sloan research center you could ask for all of the 1965 info that they have and just page through it. Things that you may find are factory photos, service bulletins, pricing/option info and who knows what else. :beer
Re: Really Mike Hi Dan - Sloan doesn't have specific VIN information for 1971 models. They do have the things Mike mentioned above (factory photos, service bulletins, pricing/option info, etc), just nothing pertaining to researching a specific VIN.
Oops..ou: I thought Sloan had '71 VIN info..... Marco, Exactly what years does Sloan have VIN info for? What part of 1970 does Wayne R. have? P.S. Marco, I will get the '71 & '72 info in the mail to you by Friday... :beer
Sloan has the first half of the 1970 model year (Flint built) up to VIN serial # 193,xxx. I believe they have information from all other plants for the entire 1970 model year. Wayne has the remaining Flint built information for the 1970 model year. 1971 is missing, all plants. Sloan has VIN information for all plants, all models 1972-1980. Thanks for the info Mike!
Sloan I am not sure they have all plants for all years 72-80. I tried to research a car built in the freemont plant in 1972 and was told they did not have that information. The best way to find out is to call them. They are good people and will help you as best they can. Mark
Re: Marko..... Frank - Check out the Sloan page on my website. It shows the 2 pages they sent me. The first page was the microfiche information. It contained the invoice amount, delivery date, all original options, key codes, etc. The other was a new car order form with the original options circled so I knew what exactly the option codes meant.
