A few years ago I was at a car show with my 69 GS and I was parked next to a mustang with a 428 in it well it started to get late so I closed the hood and decided to head home. While sitting at a light waiting to get onto the highway I hear a car reving it's engine so I look in the rearview mirror and sure enough it's the Mustang he saw my small block and air conditioning at the show and probably figured I was an easy target. well the light turns green and we get on the highway and as soon as he can he jumps in the next lane and pulls it down into first gear and starts hopping the front end in which I acceptling pulled mine down into first. I gave him the kick and then hammered the loud pedal and when I hit second I started pulling him and when I hit third I had him by several car lengths and had a big smile on my face.:3gears: The next week at the car show I parked across from him and he wouldn't even look at me! My smallblock has ported heads and a ported TA Intake TA 310 cam 1 3/4 headers 21/2" exhaust with flowmaster mufflers 3000 stall converter and a 3.36 posi rearend and a 750 dbl pumper Holley.
great kill :TU: :3gears: Especially cool that he was looking for trouble and then was embarrassed. One thought on your carb, going by the dyno evidence on this site, I think you would increase power with a bigger carb. Stock sbb's had 750cfm and your engine is breathing a lot better than stock.
I think my biggest problem is how the person who challenges you is always the the same guy who can't even bother to make eye contact, shake your hand, or anything when you hand them their own ass when you beat them at their own game. I mean, if I get beat, so what. I laugh it off and tell the guy or girl "Good Job" and give them their Kudos. But I guess that would be the whole point of this section of the forum. I hate sore losers. -Josh
Nice kill! Back in high school I walked all over a cocky kid's "daddy money" 2000-ish audi A4 pretty good and he never brought up the car subject again... oh yeah, this was a bone-stock buick 350 in my full wieght '69 skylark, with a TH350 and a 2.73 pegleg rear, all with 72,000 miles on it and whitewalls!! The 455's little brother does deserve respect, for sure! With the twin turbo kit coming out I'm starting to think about running my 350 with that instead of one of my 455's  Or.... just waiting for the 455 kit :Brow:
I know... I have been wanting a boosted 455 for a while now... we've had some topics about it in the high tech for old iron forum lol. I'm still learning turbochargers, but I'm an impatient bastard and I really like prochargers  So idk, either way I'm going to try and throw together a nice ground-pounding iron head just to drive my car this year, but not spend too much so I can afford a real nice setup for the real big bad boosted toy. The thing I like about those kits is everything is figured out for the mathematically-challenged among us (me!) personally- I can't wait to see a boost guage on my console!!
nice kill! it's always fun to smoke someone when they assume you're car is gonna be easy...gotta love sleepers!
