Hello all, I am pondering the idea of taking the 430 which has been rebuilt by McKay engines of springfield Il. and stuffing it into a '78 rear weel drive Riviera. The Riv currently has a Buick 350 in it. The 430 would be coming out of a '68 Electra. I live in a emissions free zone. Has any body tried this?? Would it work?? I know the Riv was available with a OLDs 403. Any one know the steps I would have to take to make it work?o No: Its either that or rebuild the 350 Thanks!! James
As far as I know, the only real changes are: Frame Pads, Exhaust manifolds/headers and whatever you want to do about the distributor. I assume your Riv currently has HEI. The HEI can be reused but the distributor drive gear needs to be changed. Best bet? Call TA Performance and talk to Dave.
Thanks I think I will be calling sometime in the near future. At the moment I have the stearing column torn apart and waiting on parts. But at least there available.
Don't forget about the front springs. Big block cars use different springs. A/C could also be a challenge? Bill
