I received today (November 6th!) a letter that was mailed and dated August 9th! It came from Wilmington, DE, which is only about 1 1/2 hours away. Almost 13 weeks!

The letter isn't mangled or damaged in any way. The address is legible and correct.

    :Dou:

    Yikes!

Another reason that people are switching to E-mail.

  3. I mailed a letter to the original owner of my 68, in early October 2001. He just received the letter a couple weeks ago... :puzzled:

I've always maintained that if the public new how bad the systems that management have implemented to become rich handle your mail, we'd shut down in months! The days of customer service ended years ago. All changes are geared to making bosses happy with no concern to the customer. You see, they get HUGE bonusses for these numbers and believe me, they care about little else. As far as people going to E-mail goes, the big losses the bosses say are happening haven't seemed to happen. Plus, the do-not-call-list means more mail:TU:

When I worked in downtown Mpls. I would always drop my mail off at the main post office.
On one occasion, it took 7 days for my mortgage payment to reach St. Paul.
    Right across the river!
Yet, my sister could mail something to me from Chicago, and I would recieve it the next day.

    David,
You mailed that magazine back to me right?
    I still haven't got it.

  6. You've got to be kidding!! I believe I mailed it on Monday from work, in the same envelope you sent it in to me. If you don't see it in another couple days, email or PM me, and I'll send you the one I just bought at B. Dalton. It's amazing I don't get late notices from Qwest. I mail payments to Mpls, only 1-2 days before the due date. I've mailed a letter across town from Fargo to Moorhead before, and it took 2 days to arrive there....

Several years ago I had a job interview in the morning and the "thanks but no thanks" letter came in the mail at noon!:puzzled:

    Connie,

You mean they rejected you before you even interviewed????? That's so rude!

Egad, I hadn't even thought of that possibility! It was an early interview....7:30 I think for a FedEx type of place. I just figured they punched my name into the standard form letter and whipped it right out.

Dang... companies do that all the time. they may have someone they are giving the position to (like a boss's son) but to make it a legit hiring they have to take applicants from outside and go thru the BS of interviewing and such to stay as an "equal opportunity employer" even if they have already made a decision. it really :af: me too.

I'm starting to get upset w/ the USPS as well. Dave mailed me my distributor on the 5th, and it still aint here :af: . The only info on the tracking # is that it was accepted on the 5th. Hopefully it will arrive on Monday.

Back in the 70s my grandfather received a letter from my mother, mailed from boarding school in 1942!!!!!
They even had a story about it in the newspaper.
