ITs been along time coming for this car, typical obstacles, 4 moves, starting a business, buying a house, getting hitched, etc etc.. but its just about finished.. The Car- 71 Skylark, painted bittersweet mist, saddle interior, bench seat 4 speed with armrest. There is only 1 small patch in the right 1/4, the rest was solid. Drivetrain- 430, .030 over. 9.5:1 compression (actual) ported and polished small valve heads, SP1, q jet by TA. Hooker headers and MSD ignition Autogear M22w, centerforce DF clutch, Denny's driveshaft, 3.42 junkyard gears and posi unit. Spohn rear control arms, adjustable uppers, boxed lowers with 1"sway bar, tall spindle conversion upfront.
Nice color, and perfect drive train combo.! Congrats. Now you have to post a video with the engine idling and then doing a block-long smoky!
Thanks. The car was originally bittersweet mist. Its now painted sun burnt orange, its an HHR color. Its pretty similar.
Its probably the easiest shifting 4 speed I've ever shifted. I don't have much street time on it yet besides the occasional hot lap. I can't give an honest opinion on it yet- the 430 will hold on the rev limiter through third pretty easy. I'll know more when the mickey thompsons go on. It doesn't seem as if the wide spread will hurt too much. BTW- I've probably watched your you tube video at least a hundred times!
Love it. I think my 64 special was originally coral mist a similar color. Can we see an interior pic with the stick and bench seat? It will be inspiration for me!
