A couple of weeks ago I went to the LACR track in Lancaster Ca. for a Ratfink event. This turned out to be great fun, and I finally got around to develop some photos that my girlfriend took during the day. First up, a healthy burnout is mandatory in my book. Not that it does anything good, but you get that feeling that you just have to do it... again and again..
More smoke, this was the theme of the day. I managed to lower my best time from 18:42 (an eternety) to 17:21 (in the right direction at least). This was good, since I had set out to take a second of the previous time as my goal for the day.
I tried two different sets of rear tires, one set of junk yard 235/75/15 with the white line, and a set of bought 255/60/50 with white letters on them. I couldn't get enough grip with the tires I had bought, they're 5% lower geared than the other ones, this seemed to be enough. I only went two rounds with the 255's and then it was back to the (smoke all you want) yard tires. There we really nice cars there, and it was so cool to see them go down the track, this event turned out way over my expectations, and I'm really happy I went.
The managed to beat two cars of my eleven passes, I got them both at the start. It's really annoying they end up with the better time, but you still got there first.
Glad to see you running at the track. Buicks need all the publicity they can get. Yours is a nice one too. What's the story on the little orange 62 Skylark in the above pic? Did it still have the little 215 engine?
The orange car got a lot of attention, it was really nicely done up, and had some custom work done on it. There was always a few people around it taking pictures and asking about it. Regarding its engine specs. I have no idea. I didn't even think about it being a Buick until you mentioned it.
Since we have nothing else to do I'll post some more. The guy in the new cobolt must have crapped in his panties off the line or something, I could see him in my mirror halfway down the track and he never caught me. That felt really good, but now I see he had a bummer start, oh well. I still got him mmoooaahhhahahha Me 17.209 with a .210 reaction time Him 18.254 with a .483 reaction time I guess he missed second.
Here's some of the cars that were parked close by. I know you guys are really Buick horny, but there's plenty of cool stuff as long as the years are right.
I really like stuff like this at the line. I raced one of these 50's cars and I got him for the first hundred yards, then he came back good and passed.
If you haven't washed them off yet, keep the white numbers on the windows. That'll turn a few heads. Looks like a hoot of a time!
The only problem with the white numbers on the window is that it becomes difficult to explain to the police officer that you only have the car for it's comfortable ride. Looks like a ton (or two and a half) of fun.
There's a new guy on the board with a pretty hot "C", see: http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=79128 I think he could be shaving that 15.1 time of yours as fastest "C" if he'd go down the track :Brow: ... Back to the garage Adam, more ponies will soon be needed. I wish I could put more power in my car, but the steps are small if you have a very limited budget. It seems he dropped a cool 4k$ in to the engine.. That's in a different league for me, I doubt I'll ever get there.
The white numbers have stayed on the car for a few weeks after each time I've taken it to the track. The problem here in L.A. is that everything gets dusty and covered with "soot?" I don't know how to spell it, after a while.
It's a beauty, someone here called me the other day after I left a note on his black "C", it looked just like vics. He was going to sell it, and he had done a lot of work on it. He was thinking about 12k$ for it.
