As a long time car guy, all my car guy buddys are also into guns. Just to break the pace for a moment, I would like to know what you guys carry for concealment, and also how many are members of the NRA. I personally carry a Glock 19, but sometimes find it a bit big to conceal when not wearing a sweatshirt or jacket. Probably going to get something a little smaller for carry in the warm months. Any suggestions?:TU:
I have a 5 inch Springfield XD 45 Bitone that is a little large but I like the feel plus a light wind breaker is my best friend. There are compact models but I perfered this one. Since you like the Glock have you looked at the sub compact models? I am looking for a nice shoulder holster since it is a larger gun. I am also looking at a backup gun that will be much smaller that I can carry around my ankle. I think a small Ruger will fit that bill. I just sent off for my Utah permit that is good in 33 states.
I carry Smith and Wesson 9mm and on a rare occasion a .45. The 9 fits in the small of my back real nice. All my gun memberships come and go.I mostly belong to that stuff because I just can.I belong to this one range and I'd be lucky if I went once a year but I feel I should belong
NRA here. 1917 BSA SMLE III Enfield .303 1938 Mauser 98 Czech built 8mm 1942 Mauser 98 German built 8mm If/when I get a CCW, it will be a Kimber .45 Pro Carry in my holster. We go to a range on a regular basis. They have a 25 yard pistol range and a 50 yard rifle range (both indoors). At the PSMCDR, with the racers out in our grass pit area and with a bunch of my friends who attend to spectate, we have the best protected pit area at the event. :brow: :brow: As for a suggestion for Don, a couple buddies carry a KelTec .380 pocket piece. 5 rounds in the mag. They can carry them in the pockets of their jeans without a holster/clip and you don't know it is there. My cousin just picked up a S&W .40 M&P that is a really lightweight carry piece. Almost all polymar. Very light, but still packs enough punch.
I carry a S-W J frame snuby in 38+p and have CCW permits for Minnesota, Utah, New Hampshire, so that makes me good for over 40 states.
How bout the "Baby Glock" (glock 26) My brother carries that as backup on his ankle. VERY concealable. Barks a little when fired but will get the job done.
1909 Argentine Mauser 7.65x54 1909 Argentine Mauser sporterized 30-06 This gun was sold thru TSS department stores. My father bought it in the 60's for 22.99. It was marketed through the Interarms Company. Mauser model 98 with Nazi proof marks And the old Mossberg 500 pump action 12 gauge
There was a thread asking about this topic a while back, you may be able to search for it and find it.For conceal carry I have a Glock model 36(.45),Ruger Sp 101(.357) and a Taurus CIA.The CIA is the most comfortable but it's a .38.I like the Ruger the best, hammerless with a trigger job, nice piece.I'm more accurate at the range with the Glock. However,in my opinion, the holster will be a very important part of the concealment and safe exercise of your right to carry.Don't waste money on cheap holsters.
Semi-auto suggestion: Sig Sauer 239 (9mm, 357 Sig or 40 S&W caliber) Revolver (my favorite): Ruger SP101 (357 Mag or 327 Federal Magnum caliber) Kyle carries either with just a button down short sleeve shirt to conceal in the summer. I am waiting for the new Ruger revolver model LCR to come out. Hammerless, 38 cal. May replace my SP101 327 Mag. Galco Royal Guard holsters are the best - but SP101 holster selection is not the best. Great for GP100 and the Sigs.
Currently I'm carrying a 1956 Colt Detective Special in .38 spl but I'm waiting on a Bersa 380 to arrive, I'm also looking for a S&W 642 J frame as well
What I have with me depends on where I'm going, and what I'm going to wear. Anything from a Ruger 44 to a colt saa clone with a 4 5/8" barrel (fits in pocket better than you think) to a little taurus 357 that I bought for the wife. It's got about an 1 1/2" barrel, smooth sights, no hammer spur so it fits in any pocket or a small holster and draws smooth. I like wheel guns, they don't jam, and if I got more than five or six bad guys, I need another plan.
When I carry it is a Inter-arms Starfire .45 but do have a Ruger P85 9mm. Wife carries a Taurus .38 Special. Going for more NRA instructor training in a few weeks, sadly the same weekend as the Maple Grove FAST race. Been instructing kids and adults in indoor .22 for over 5 years now. I've got 3 more 40 point targets to do in Expert Standing and I'll be in Distinguished. That may take me a lot of years to finish but I've got a 7 year-old who is itching to get back into shooting once she turns 8 so I'll have 10 years working with her. She started when she was 4 but had to stop 2 years ago when insurance balkedo No: Just got Jeff a Savage MKII BTVLSS .22LR - http://www.savagearms.com/markiibtvs_LH.htm . Sweet thumbhole stock left-hand that has been rated as one of the best shooting target .22s ever. He has been using Collin's CMP Savage MKI FTV - http://www.thecmp.org/22targetcommercial.htm which is an excellent shooting gun as well.
In Illinois, there is no concealed carry. That could change if the rest of the state can overcome the power and influence of Chicago's mayor. A coworker just bought a Walther PPS 9mm that I like. Very slim and shoots well. Other possiblities would be a Glock 26 or a S&W M&P 9mm compact. I will be looking for a Springfield XD 9mm service model if anyone has one for sale. :blast:
Annie will you be second wife!????????/ Sorry i slipped on the keys my wife hit me.. NRA lifetime member --CCW-- S&W Airweight .38 revolver or .40 S&W Tactical semi auto both use Black talons or hydro shocks - no need to leave em standing ! Small of my back Don obviously theres more guys into guns than sports on this board ,Because no one got my baseball Jason Giambi steroid joke!
Don, S&W J-Frame Body Guard 38+P w/shielded hammer or Glock 27 (40 cal.). The S&W is easy to conceal in summer as it fits in my pocket with a Desanti pocket holster. Winter/Fall I can carry my Glock in one of several holsters. Lets go to Bud's on Friday, okay? Tom
