sorry, another rod question

    Do you all think there is a big difference between SCAT & CAT rods, besides the $80 price difference? CAT also makes a $200 "500 horsepower moly" rod. These are for Pontiac 455s.
    Thanx for any technical information you all can share.

    I've heard terrible things about CAT quality control, as regards to crank and flexplate balance.

    They all come from the same place....China!! The only real differences would be the inspection or machining process once they get in the states.

    For a 500hp application, I don't think I'd waste the time or extra money, converting the Pontiac rods to work with our 455" crank. I'd just get some ARP bolts and get the stockers resized.

    If you're going to get the Eagle H-beams - that would be another thing.
