Dropped my Chevy 350 off at the machine shop to get bored out. Look for more Buick stuff for sale soon. I fought the good fight, but I just can't afford to be a Buick guy.

Two years ago I buy a Cam, lifters, and timing chain for my Buick 350. Price? $400.

How about a Chevy rebuild kit with Cam, lifters, 030 Pistons, every dang seal made and an oil pump for $169?!?!?!?!

Not to mention my Regal has been a workbench since the Buick 350 expired Oct 05.

The headers will be the next thing listed if anyone is doing a 350 Buick Regal.

No hard feelings. For the $'s spent on rebuilding my 425 2x4, I could have had a Chevy big block crate motor. BUT, I sure get warm & gooey when I fire up the SUPER WILDCAT.

Just don't forget your Buick roots.

I'm REALLY sorry to hear about this Dan...if I would have known you were in these "dire straights" I would have offered an original 80,XXX mile '72 4BBL 350 and TH350 I had for you to just drive over and pick-up to keep a fellow Buick Bud's car ALL BUICK...BUT I sold that engine and trans locally just two weeks ago.:Dou:

Again....sorry to hear.:ball: Hopefully things will look up soon and you can go back Buick the way it should be.:TU:

    Kerry,

I'd hardly call it dire straits. Its just cars after all. :bla: Having a good running stock Buick 350 wouldn't be a problem. Heck, I can find them locally. But I'm tired of never have been faster than the 14s. And the money to get a Buick there just isn't present. Sitting on the sidelines SUCKS, and this is my way out.

Now if I can score a $100 Monte or Malibu body in the next few weeks, I won't half breed the Regal. But even then I'd need the rear end and my pedals out of it, and the Regal shell would be worthless.

I got the Wildcat on the road this year to keep me up on the Buicks.:beer

Your "My Old Flame" by your Avitar had me thinking the mechanical meteor had been SOLD. Glad it's still in the "family".

No selling now El Presidente'. I've had that pile clogging my garage for 13 years and I finally am driving it! "My Old Flame" is just a pun. Maybe I'll change that. I am a W.O.T. member, and plan to be until I dirt nap.

Not sure why you would want to come here and post what you did other than to somehow rub it in the faces of the Buick faithful. If you want to try to save a little coin by switching things over to run a cheaper sbc so be it we don't care. If you want to list some Buick parts for sale then list them. Not being able to get a regal to run faster than 14s with a Buick 350 sounds like your skills and knowhow are lacking. Both chevy & Buick 350s can be made do this fairly easily. Its more about knowhow than money. Sounds to me like you are pretty much broke or at least have no hot rod budget. Switching things over to build and run a chevy may help that a little but you are still going to have to learn how to set up & tune a car to make it quicker or pay someone else to do it for you. With 3900 posts I would not call you a troll but these posts make you sound like one. FWIW I don't have any desire to bash you or get you to leave here only to make you think about your posts and at least when you are here to post about Buick power.

I am good with comparisons to other makes and I am good with the fact that Buick will not win on all fronts. Hell I even run a Cadillac in one of my g-bodys. What I am not good with is comeing to a Buick powered forum to run down Buick power and brag about your switch like we are all stupid or should jump in behind you. Then again maybe that is just my perception.
    Happy Hotrodding. :3gears:

well Vern I can tell you that no matter what Dan chooses to build he is and will always be family here.
Letting us know what he's up to now is mearly another chapter in the great saga "as the Shumsky turns" a real life story of a man with more heart in his little finger than than most folks I know.

Good Luck with the project Dan, keep us updated, we care.:Smarty:

    Thanks D & B and Hemikiller.:TU:

Vern, No facerubbing or nothing of the sort. Just facts. I have lotsa friends here and when I do make it to the strip, I just want them to know whats up. My parts for sale has been going very well and unfortunatley stuff I'd like to keep to keep engine options open have to be sold to do anything. House needs works, kids need raised, Sunk lotsa $$$ into my Wildcat, etc. After four years on this board I can tell my friends here whatever I want.

"Sounds to me like you are pretty much broke or ar least have no hot rod budget"

    Uhhh.....yeah.

    Dan,

Hey, man just swinging through here and saw your post.

Sorry to hear things aren't going to work out on the Regal but was nice of you to give us an update and pass your parts along while you focus on the Wildcat and experimenting on other options.

Don't let the Verns bother you,it is your car and those of us who have known you this long know your heart, not that you have to explain anyway, like you said just letting folks know what's up.

    Good luck man

Well heart, attitude, and emotions are hard to read on a forum. I only looked at what you posted here and I guess it can be read two ways. You have been on the forum a long time and I have not read any of your past posts. You also still have the Wildcat. If you include the value of your time I am not sure how much dough converting to build and run a sbc will save you. But I can respect the fact that it is your car to do what you want with. I appreciate your reply and best of luck to you.

    chryco63 14's or bust!

Hey Dan, I would say for the money you've invested, you've made some fine contributions to the SBB world, i.e. the LeSabre and the 4spd Regal. If there's anyone who can make a budget SBB go fast in a budget Buick, it's Dan! :beers2:

Good luck with the SBC! :TU:

Sorry if my wording came across wrong there Dan, I didn't mean it to sound like you were moving into a cardboard box and anything like that. :Dou:

Blessings with your project (I don't believe in luck...and I'm sure you know why!).:TU:
