    Hi Buick Brain,
Now that I have my carpet issue resolved I'm moving forward with installing the sound deadener material that I bough from ACC.
It has a plastic film over one side (see pic). I'm assuming that this is to be removed to use the "sticky" side that is beneath it? If so, does this side go down on the floor pan?
Next, I'm assuming that this goes right over the wiring harness that runs under the drivers seat?
    Lastly,
I have two rectangles left over (see pic). Does anyone know where these might go in my 72 Buick 2 door? The only spot I think I have left is next to the bolts that hold the back of the rear seat in.

    Thanks
    Tom

My Name is Max! Sorry could not resist ! Just saw FURY ROAD at the theatre. Max just put the sound deadner on the hump to keep tranny heat off you. Slap a couple on the floor to keep noise down. So car doesn't rattle. Put it were you want the guys on the assembly line didn't care where they put it! Ha!

Max I would sand floor lightly with 220 to scuff off Debree! Then clean /wipe with lighter fluid or wax &grease remover! They are both the same product. Then when dry apply the sticky side down.

    Thanks,
I figured it was not real critical where it went. I'm not doing a complete cover.
Been cold here in WI so I have not gotten nearly as far as I have wanted on this.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

Do not put your wiring harness underneath the sound deadener. The two pieces left over, put them on your rear wheel housing.

If I remember correctly the wiring harness sleeve sits in a depressed trough in the floor boards. I believe the sound deadner was over the wire harness. There was also a fabric over the harness first to keep deadner from stick to harness sleeve. I have done this on several cars and I believe I always put deadner over wiring harness sleeve. The cut of the prieces should dictate this. I do not remember any breaks in the cut pieces that would indicate that it shoul not cover the harness sleeve.

For the fabric I used roof underlayment from Home Depot. It was very much like the factory stuff. It was also used to cover the wires under the seats.

Yes, it does sit in a depression in the floor. I might just cut that part out and put the material on either side of the wires. Two reasons: In case any moisture gets under there and in case I need to get at these wires in the future.
There is also padding on the underside of the carpet so I thing they will be covered well enough.
At least that is the way I'm leaning.

Tom, there is a reason they put the wires under the deadner. Fire supression might be one of them. Don't try to outhink the Gm engineers. They did this for a reason. Do it the safe way. Your carpets will burn quicker than the deadner.
