Need to buy some new Fan clutch's for 1970 Buick GS 455/Stage 1 cars. Which supplier/vendor offers a best correct clutch?
Rich, Try AC Delco if still available. They superseded the part number a bunch of times. The last ones I bought still looked pretty close to the original. Most of the aftermarket ones I see have the goofy slotted holes for the studs not the correct round holes.
Thanks Dave I have always restored and original but need to source some new ones. Tanks I will look at AC unit.
A good bet would be to send the core and markings desired to a rebuilder: http://www.pamperedcorvettes.com/Pampered_Corvettes/About.html
Assuming you can still purchase the new Chevy GM clutch ( and gmpartsdirect dosent show it any longer ) it differs from the Buick clutch . With Jim I'd prefer to restore an original assuming you have a core . DL
Here is the NOS Stage-1 Fan clutch and box with part #I used on my car. It is assembly manual correct part #for a 70 Stage-1 with AC. It has a BH code. My car is non Ac but this thing works better than good and keeps the engine at the qtr mark or below even on the hottest days. I am guessing the AC clutch has the thermo set to come on sooner but I am fine with that
Here is the last Delco(NOS) boxed original I bought about 8 years ago. It has Eaton stamped in it like originals and looks very much the same as the Old Old NOS unit. It carries Delco ##15-4216 and GM #12306568. This is the one I would hunt for. There has to be some new units kicking around.
Here you go. Same as my later one. I have used this and it works fine and looks correct. Guy has ten of them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-79-GM-...306568-AC-Delco-15-4216-15-4208-/271561230837
Looking at the Parts place they may have the same one. Same price. Maybe Ebay seller is Parts Place? Probably.
GM parts is out so like the rear sway bars they were bought up and price tripled . O well " free enterprise " right ? DL
