Sources for Body Mount Cushions

I've just spent several hours trying to source body mounts for my 66 Riv. CARS or Classic Buicks do not have the big 2-3/4" OD mounts at the firewall. Classic Buicks advertises a full kit but refused to tell me the dimensions and stated they are not identical to the originals but would work.

There are 4 of the big ones. Two on each side. I've checked suppliers for other GM cars and trucks and haven't been able to find these. They have a large flat washer molded in one side and a 5/8" ID steel sleeve through the center.

Before I have to settle on something that doesn't replicate the originals, does anyone know of a source I can try or perhaps a company who can custom make them? I do not want urethane.
It appears the all the other mounts are an easily obtainable size so its just the large ones I'm having trouble with.

Gerry - I have a request into Steele to see what they might have.

Walt - The one you posted is the closest I've found so far. When I talked to CARS they mentioned the same mount you listed as being the closest they had. Its a little small on the OD and a little big on the thickness. I suppose they could be cut or ground down to adjust thickness.
What I'm not sure of yet is what the thickness was of the originals. Guessing 3/4 or 7/8"?? I can tell these front 4 mounts are carrying alot of weight because they were squashed more than all the others.

    Thanks!

The Cars BM644 is 2 1/2". It is the same as the later NOS GM replacement for almost all applications. I will bet this same type was in the Buick parts book as a replacement for your car. This part also has metal molded right into the rubber like original as well as the steel inserts. I have bought many mounts and kits from other sources and this is the only one that has that. The BM644A is the matching cushion. It is just like the original with a molded in washer. When looking for body mounts you are pretty much stcuk with what is available. Even the NOS mounts are different.

Also original mounts were softer than replacements. Some are rock hard.

Jason, you may want to try Rare Parts. I know they make custom pieces.

Good suggestion - I do have a request in to them. I know I'm probably being too picky. So far the suggestions above for CARS having the best selection is on the money. I was able to extract original part numbers off all the mounts and documented the sizes. I found where they used two different part number mounts for the same location so maybe they had a couple suppliers which wouldn't be uncommon. The only difference I can tell is one has 4 sets of 3 vertical ribs and the other doesn't.

Those sound identical to the ones off of my 65's

Yep, I was checking out your pics with the body off and could see it looked like the 65 had the same big mounts in same locations - 4 up front and two at the wheel arch. At this point I am determined (could change) to get the correct diameter even if I have to machine them out of hockey pucks.:Brow: . Probably be a little hard. Wonder how much difference it really makes as long as its not metal on metal. They probably need to give a little when the frame flexes......but then again the smaller dia lower mounts would still be able do some flexing.
