Visited the South Atlanta Pull a Part these past two Sundays. They have a 1950 Buick Special and a 1951 Buick Roadmaster, as well as the remnants of a 1970 Buick Skaylark. The 1950 Special has a complete straight 8 in the car. The 1951 has an almost complete straight 8 half out of the car. Its missing the carb, rear exhaust manifold, and valve cover. The Skylark has an almost complete 350. The intake and valvle covers were removed in the past week. Looks like a realtively new front cover. Hood is decent except someone stood it on its rear and bent the corners. Also is a non vinyl top car so that is in good shape. The gages are misisng, as well as the interior except for the door panels. The right rear quarter is pretty good sahpe for such an old car. I think it has had Bondo rust repair in the lower section. The panel between the window, trunk, and quarters looks good. Both of the '50ish Buick bodies are pretty shot, but the interiors are in place in both. I am on the road today and goofed up and didn't bring my photo download cable, so no photos for now. I wish someone would save those straight 8s!
I get some good stuff out of there frequently. Got 2 Pontiac 455s out of there one time last year . One was a low mileage 455 in a '76 Bonneville 2dr that was whacked hard in the door and 1/4 w47K on it. left the heads and just took the complete shortblocks. Popped a set of 6X 4 heads on it and it was super clean inside. There is a guy named Ken in Newnan that has a private collection of cars and parts cars in the back of his sprawling place.
Thanks for the Newnan tip. Old car yards are scarce here (unlike Tennessee). PM me his name if you can. Regards, 01j
And one more thing, Pull a Part has a really neat Andriod app that tells you what's in each of their yards, where it is and when it got there. Works great when you're wnadering around the vast acerage looking for a particualr car.
