Just wondering if any Buick guys beside myself will be hitting the Lockport cruise tonight 7 to 9 pm? If so, maybe we could meet somewhere and drive 'em all in together to add a little "Shock and Awe" to the evening.
Dang Mike, wish I woulda seen this before me and the family went off to Sears for the evening. Would of been a nice cruise for us. Maybe another time. D.
Come to Buick Race NIght at Bunker Hill Dragstrip this saturday night. It's a nice cruise down......hope to see you. Peace WildBill
Pretty good night considering it was the 1st cruise of the season out here. Here's a 1st, there was actually more Buicks represented then some of the other brands. My 72, and a guy with a 6000 mile 87 GN were the only two Buicks their. We did beat Olds, 1 W-31, and 0 AMCs. The rest of the cars were overwhelmingly Chevy (suprise) with some Mopar and Fords filling out the rest. Ralley Insurance has upped the ante it appears this year. Now they're giving out free food. LOL Anybody going to Lemont this Wednesday? It usually is the biggest one going out here?
Loyd and I have to limit our cruises to the Buick featured nights, pretty much, since there's so many of them. Especially those on week nights. And even some of those will be harder to do, with him driving to work now and getting home later. So as much as we'd like to be at all of them, we just can't. But we'll be there in spirit! ShariB
Forgot to mention that a guy came over and started looking at the 72 and we struck up a conversation. Turns out he was an auto tech at a local Buick dealer from 1966 to 1972. He was telling me about a customer back in the old days who had a White 70 GSX 4 speed Stage 1 that the dealership ended up putting 4 engines in. Another case of being "factory sponsered" thanks to Buicks 5 year 50K drivetrain warranty. I guess thats another reason why they cost so much. Was he correct about the warranty? If so, did other GM makes have that long a warranty? He also talked about how they had alot of warranty issues with the big block GS cars up until 71 when they inlarged all of the oiling lines. Finally he mentioned that he has an NOS 70 stage 1 replacement motor that he and his brother are looking to do something with. It was so cool talking to someone who actually worked on them back when they were new. BTW he had a GS as well back then, but he said he opted for the GS 350 because in his words, "the 455 cars were too much of a handful to drive." He said he's up there every week, so hopefully I can fill him in on how far Buicks have come since 1972.
