How much taller is the SP1 intake compared to the stock intake? As is right now I've got roughly 1/4" of hood clearance with the stock intake, square-bore to spread-bore adapter (1"), edelbrock carb, and 3" tall filter and am looking to upgrade to the SP1. Anybody have any idea's? I'm hoping that it'll end up about right where I'm at now, considering I've got the 1" adapter on there.

I've gone through all this. If you put the SP1 on, you can get it all to fit under the hood. But you will need a drop base air cleaner.

My setup had no spacer, a Holley 950HP carb, and a drop base air cleaner with 3" element. You can get the drop base air cleaner setup on ebay for cheap. I actually trimmed it another 1/4" or so because it is VERY tight up top and I wanted close to 1/2" clearance because we all know are engines move around in there when running. In doing so, I also had to drill holes to allow the float adjustment screws to poke through and not rub on the base of the air cleaner. I know dirt could get up in there and bypass the air filter, but oh well.

I currently use the Stage 2 scoop setup with a 1" SuperSucker, flat lexan pan and foam on three sides to create ramair effect. But I'm thinking of going back to a more stock-looking setup with a stealth Performer worked over by Gessler and q-jet worked over by someone like Osborne. Good luck.
