I have a 1950 Buick Special in need of plugs & wires, after calling every auto parts store in a 35 miles radius i found that no one carries wires for my car, I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get wires, or if those universal kits will work? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Kanter Auto has everything you could want. I really dont know how they have all those parts in one place. Just as an example, they had in stock 69 Riviera front caliper rebuild kits, 68 Riviera front wheel cylinders (which were on sale no less). Give them a try. I bet you they have everything you need. www.kanter.com Good luck, Jason
50 Buick, I would just get a universal set. That way you can custom make your wires. They will fit better than even a set made for your engine. You can get a really good set of spiral core 8mm if originality isn't a concern. Most universal sets come with a set of jaws for crimping the ends. You mount them in a vise, and use a small hammer to make the crimp. Doesn't really work all that well. MSD makes a nice ratcheting ignition wire crimper. It works really well, perfect crimp every time. It's about 50-60 dollars though.
Thanks guys for the responses I am going to go the universal route, I found some orignal ones from my local buick dealership but they wanted $125.00 seems ridiculous. I am going to put them on tommorow and cross my fingers and hope she finally starts!!! Thanks for all the help!
A starting point for a cross reference: Original part numbers Plugs=5569695 or maybe ac/delco 46X Wires=5285668 :TU:
