Well, this is my car. I had my model A for sale (along with everything else right now) and I ended up taking a 65 El Camino in trade, the thinking is that a nice clean 65 El Camino will sell faster than a hotrod project. Nice clean car with an 88 throttle body 350 in it. Seems to run out real good. I an now in need of some money within the next 24 hours so I edited the listing to be a 24 hour price drop. This is a clean looking car in need of some interior love. Here's the posting with a few pictures and a photo link. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/2180520595.html
Never mind the urgent sale. Sold it to my brother at a deep discount and averted the disasters of being short for much needed funds. Still for sale, but back up to $3,500 OBO.
Sad to hear the Hot Rod has left the garage but I've been there. I went many years without a project. Hope you can get that 65 of your dreams some day soon.
Thanks Brian. Things will probably be fine in the end. The stuff I'm selling cheap is a means to an end. I have no idea of when, but things will be some sort of normal again in the future so I just have to keep plugging away till then. First sign of normal life will be me buying a cheap Camaro or mustang so that I can do a little work, sell it for a profit and start building the funds back up to have a nice car again!
David sorry you had you let it go but there will always be another one out there with your name on it!!
Damn. Wish that El Camino was closer. I'd turn it into a daily driver and retire my Ranger. Those TBI 350's can be very reliable motors.
Yep Joe, I will get a new car. Probably more than one when this is done since I won't have three to four horses to support and wont have someone robbing my car fund! I don't know if I'm a couple of months, or much much longer till I start the new process now, but I will get there. Brian, that car is a runner. I took it probably 50 miles tonight to deliver it to my brother who bought it cheap and it had good power and drove very nice. They did a good job hooking up the computer and all the electronics. If I had put that engine in, I probably would have gone with a carb, but it is very nice the way it is! I would have been very happy with the car if I had paid $4,000 or maybe a bit more. Always wanted an El Camino and this was a good one in a good year but it went to a better cause. This would have been a very fun car to keep. Maybe I'll win the lottery soon and buy it back from him. He's trying to get $3,000 for it and it's worth all of that and then some. Would make a great "shop truck" for chasing down parts!
