where is the actual buzzer located for the speed alert uzzled: .also is it the same buzzer for ignition? i`am putting back together my 70gs455 and do not remember :eek2: it has been a long resto but coming along nicely :TU: any and all info would be helpful :bglasses:
On my 68, I know the speedwarning and ignition use the same buzzer, but I don't know where it is located.
Same buzzer as the ignition & also seatbelt warning. Wired via a different switch. Switch is built into the speedo, actually the set arm & the speedo arm. When they make contact a circuit is closed, energizing the buzzer.Look above the glove box liner, secured to the steel dash by two screws.
Looks the same as the firewall fan speed relay. I don't have one out now but I am going to da yards tomorrow...I will try to get one from a 71 Skylark. Attached a pic with an arrow showing the location of the relay....sits on the back side of the metal dash frame. Arrow points to screw threads that protrude through metal dash frame. Screw is a 3/8" hex head sheet metal screw.
hello i have a couple questions about this speed warning thing;; first was it a option on all 70-72 ? , did it come alone or was it with other options ? if i install one on my 70 is the wiring in the harness already tied in there or would i have to add something ? i no that i do have the buzzer switch mounted to my dash thanks wally o No:
Available on all 70-2 Skylarks. Was a single option. No wiring required. If you look behind your speedo...the main harness has the speed-alert wiring....two pink wires in a translucent female connector. Just unwrap it and plug it in the back of the speed-alert speedo. That simple!
Hmmmm....you wish is answered! Here are some pics of da buzzer from the 71 4dr Skylark I stripped at da yard today!
Notice to the left of the screw hole there is a small "tang" that resides in a small hole in the dash frame. This prevents the buzzer from rotating when you tighten the sheet metal screw. Another pic!
Thanks again. I have a 72 Skylark sitting in my garage now waiting to be stripped. Hopefully it's there.
