When I drive my speedometer struggles to stay in place and is always ticking does anyone know what causes that??

It ticks whenever I speed up or slow down and is constantly moving from left to right as if it were a bobble head

Your speedometer cable may need to be lubricated.

Easiest way is to take the radio out, pull the cable from inside the housing, put white grease on it,put it back and its done.I just hope that if its doing it a long time, maybe the cable will be frayed ,but let's hope not.Bruno.

On a 73 Electra it's pretty easy to access the speedo cable. Remove the instrument cluster and just pull the cable out with needle nose pliers.
