I have the sport wheel, hub and horn button BUT am missing the three finger piece with three screws that screws into the hub. I believe the h button snaps onto it. I think I'm also missing the round spring ring that snaps over the back of the h button. If anyone can help I'd sure appreciate it....putting this wheel together is driving me nuts. Any pics or diagram of the assy would really help...service manual doesn't cover it.
Today I just drove 100 mi r/t to a Buick vendor, paid $30 for a service manual as recommended by a vendor expert and it still doesn't show the d--- s wheel assy, so I don't know for sure what I'm looking for. If anyone can post that diagram out of the body manual, assy manual,or whatever manual has the exploded view, I would really appreciate it. I've looked at all the links provided and I appreciate the info but there are dozens of different but similar assy pieces for the vettes, chevelles etc sport wheels. I don't know which one will work, because I don't know exactly what the pieces I need, look like. thanks GENE
This is what you need. The retainer bolts to the hub and the other spring kit mounts in the turn signal cancel unit. That is that little white thingy sticking out of the column.
Jarrod I deeply appreciate your effort posting the pics. Finally I'm just starting to get an idea of what I'm looking for. If I understand it right, the retainer screws to hub and the button snaps onto the retainer..right? There is NO spring steel ring that goes around either the retainer or the button..right? The TS cnx cam goes on first and makes contact w/ a spring contact in the wheel housing. Then another spring contact is inserted into the TS cnx cam...right? Now where can locate/buy the correct TS cnx cam + the retainer. I already have a GM spring contact kit. Again thanks for your patience and help Gene
Here's a picture of what covers the cancel cam in post #8 Post #8 shows what goes underneath the hub. Post #7 shows you the spring/stud and black plastic retainer which goes into the white piece in #8. I hope i'm not confusing you. Now once you have that together the horn button contact/retainer monuts to the hub with 3 screws. Then snap your horn button in place and you should be set, of course once you have your steering wheel on.
Napa? If you look closely on the right hand side of the picture Jarrod posted you will notice a slot near the end of the plastic tube. The plastic collar that goes around the metal plunger locks in the slot. I found a turn signal cancel cam like this one at NAPA but the one I bought was a lime green color. It worked fine although it was listed for newer cars. Sorry if I am confusing you, I just recently went thru this... Jarrod may have the correct turn signal cancel cam he can sell you. Good Luck Bert
