Spring numbers - What can I expect

I was on my way out last night to check on new springs for the front of my GS and my neighbor mentioned that he had a brand new set in his garage, still in the box, and would let me have them for nothing.

They are either TRW or Moog 5386 and here's the specs that I found on George's site for them:

Spring number Load Ht. Free Ht. Diff. Load Rate
    5386 11.0" 17.08" 6.08" 2043 336

The rate is lower than the spring listed as the standard replacement rate of 362, and the load height is .5" lower.

I read the information and am a bit confused on some of the numbers. The load is the weight over the springs, right?

If I were to use this spring, with the lower rate, would it give me a softer ride or would it simply be a sloppy ride, or with increased load number and a lower rate, would the spring bounce me all over the road? I just dont know what I should expect if I were to try these, and I'd hate to get it all back together and THEN find out that they won't work and have to take it all apart again.

My car is a 70 455 GS with a/c, if that make all that much difference.

My neighbor was going to use the springs for a 68 BB Chevelle, but decided to go with another set, so I figure if I can use these and not have to buy another set, I can use the $80 for something else (Like the ball joints). :TU:
