SR-71 Starter Motor!

    There were a couple of "Show Carts" that were used during airshows or if we were being filmed for some reason (happened a lot).

    NailHeads were ALSO used in the irrigation industry to power the pumps for farmland irrigation. They were the preferred engines over the big block Chevs as they needed no transmission to pump the water.
    I know of one today still being used at a water pumping station where the reservoir is.

    It figures the government would choose and engine that would be discontinued a year after it was commissioned as a starter motor! Yes I'm sure it was decided long before 1966!

    If you want a constant use engine with a high torque output, a Nailhead is hard to beat. With modern high-quality pistons., it is close to impossible to beat.
