Ran into an issue with my OE shaft and not sure it's salvageable. I'm no expert here but it appears to me that the non switch pitch ST-300 utilized a different shaft than those equipped with SP. At a minimum, 3 iron oil rings on the SP shaft and only 2 on the non (different pumps I guess?). Let me know if you've got one and name your price. In good shape please! Thanks for reading.
I have an ST-300 SP from my 1964 Skylark. It had some external leaking, I drove it for over a year before pulling it. The SP worked well, shifted properly. The torque converter went into my '68 ST-400, but the rest of the tranny is available. Where are you located?
I have a completly rebuilt 300 ST, including new gears, thrust washers, bearings and solenoids. Did it for my 67 GS 340, new sp torque converter also available. Then went with a 455 and 400 trans instead. In southern Ca if interested send a PM.
Sorry for any confusion. Just to clarify, the input shaft I'm hunting has 3 ringlands for 3 iron sealing rings. I presume that the SP equipped ST300 uses these three ringed shafts, whereas the non SP ST300 is equipped with only 2. However, I'm uncertain if that is the case. Appreciate the interest, gentlemen.
If nobody else comes through for you I have a 66 ST300 I just pulled out of my special and the shaft appears to be just fine.
