he he he... First set came thru the door the other day.. All out STG 1 motor? These are your heads.. Here is a pic, compared to the STG 1 SE heads. JW
TE head is on top in that picture, with it's STG 3 raised intake ports. Funny, they don't look any faster than the SE's from this side, but looks are decieveing.. It will obviously require a raised port intake to use these heads, and we are starting the development project on the New TE heads shortly, to see how they flow vs the SE heads. I expect high 310 numbers, from out "standard" port work at setup, which includes a pocket port.. our upgrade option with chamber work should get these into the 320 range I expect.. Now, for around $2800, to your door, you can get a set of heads with flow numbers that were once limited only to the folks with very healthy budgets, to do STG 3 or 4 heads. And you can bolt your existing headers, exhaust manfolds, and use your current rocker gear on them.. Or even your STG 1 Valves/and hardware, if they are fresh. Way to go, Mike, Sheri, and the gang at TA.. Another nice product for us to play with. JW
And Jim who may those heads, intake and new 2 1/8" primary Stage 1 headers be going to....:Brow: The second half and proof of the predicted and completed flow numbers by Jim will be the dyno numbers after Stage 1 Auto completes the engine, then it's onward to Norwalk in the Spring! This engine project will no doubt be posted as it moves along. Goal....a lot better than that 9.56 bump at Norwalk:grin: Gotta keep up with the Jones...or should I say the Zerucha's, Paine's, Hecker, Csordas, Kubish and the rest of the gang. A BIG THANK YOU to: Mike & Sheri and the T/A Performance bunch Jim Weise at Tri-Shield Performance Rob Chilenski at Stage 1 Auto Steve Reynolds at SRE Performance & Fabrications (for the custom oiling system set-up) ...and Doug Hecker, my driving force to spend more money to go faster:TU: Rick Martinez
Chris thats the best I could do when I saw the new heads !ou: Then Shirley said down boy you are not getting them , yet !!!!:Brow: Guess I will take that as a "later " !!:beer :TU:
Rick, This set of cylinder heads will compliment your combo nicely!!! Just make sure the cam will go with the combo. I have a nice roller for sale:Brow: Good luck and keep us posted!!! Jim, Do you know of anyway to decrease the head bolt boss that runs down through the center of the two ports? Any trick setups? Thanks.
Don't use em ? Just kidding (sort of ) . Really you can make it not the smallest cross sectional area of the port .
Hey Dave Mongeon I was looking at your car pics on your website and I would like to quote 462CID and say, DROOL! How far away from Windsor are you and would you mind posting on here about when you go to St. Thomas Dragstrip or Grand Bend so I can make plans.
Steve , we're in Guelph We plan to run the full program at Grand Bend this coming summer and have 2 blocks underway now to be there . Check the Grand Bend Web site Schedule, they should have it updated around X-Mas , anywhere it say's top sportsman we'll be there. Pretty much all the long weekends and a few others thrown in. Depending on schedules we're going to try Norwalk, Quaker and if we still have money and working parts Cecil . We should run into you somewhere along the road .
Dave, That is an interesting picture you posted. If I am seeing this correctly it doesn't look like there is any type of sleeve going down through the center of the ports? Could you elaborate on the process used in that picture and do you loose any of the cylinder heads strength? Thanks John
John Sleeved from top of head to 1/2" from deck (sorry for confusion). About .045" wall . No durability issues almost 10 years old . PS . nobody said all head studs must be 1/2 " dia.
Hey John, I have the same type of port job done on my heads about 3 years ago from Scotty at Pee Gee, no problems here.:TU: Rob
